The Holy Family Clinic (HFC) started its operation on November 14, 1970 and was considered the first private hospital established in the 4th district of the Province. it was managed by a husband and wife team of Dr. Eli Malaya Sr. and Dra. Alejandra R. Malaya, the Hospital was classified as, with its 15 beds, a secondary level and private hospital.
At the run of the 80’s, other private hospitals were established in the area, in addition, private clinics were also sprouting, as a result, the occupancy rate of the hospital dropped significantly. Compounding the problem is the Government and Medicare requisite of having 5:1 ratio n nurse staffing. by mid-80’s, some “annex wings” were closed by Dr. Eli Malaya Sr., decreasing the hospital’s bed capacity to 25, then 15, and finally to 12 beds at the end of 80’s. Thru the 90’s and turn of the century, the hospital operation remains at a stable level, In the middle past of 2002, the Holy Family Health Service Inc. was established, composed of practicing MD’s patronizing the hospital.
